Chip maker NXP to get new CEO

Frans van Houten, CEO of chip maker NXP, has resigned. No reason was given for Van Houten’s sudden departure.

NXP, formerly part of the Philips group, has been hard hit by the economic downturn because of the fall-off in demand for chips. In September the company announced plans to cut 4,500 jobs, of which 1,300 will go in the Netherlands.
The new boss is American Richard Clemmer, who is currently on the supervisory board.
