Amsterdam cracks down on gangs

All 11 members of an Amsterdam gang have been found equally responsible for committing acts of vandalism on New Year's Eve and ordered to pay nearly €9,000 in damages – or €800 each.

It is the first time the city has brought charges against all members of a gang instead of trying each individual separately. Mayor Job Cohen hopes the sentences will have a preventive effect
