Holland leads world in telephone taps

Friday 30 May 2008

The Dutch authorities authorised 12,491 telephone taps in the second half of last year, making it the most tapped country in the world, according to justice ministry figures in Friday's Volkskrant.

In the US there were just 2,208 telephone taps in all of 2007.

In particular tapping phone convesations between lawyers and their customers often gives cause for concern, the paper said.

Please, record all my phonecalls, and send copies to me, It'll be a great help in those 'I'm sure I told you about that honey' conversations I have with my wife...
