Schiphol geese end up on dinner table
Tuesday 29 April 2008
Geese that are shot in the area around Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport are to be offered to local poultry shops, reports ANP news service on Tuesday.
A spokeswoman for the province of Noord-Holland told ANP that the birds have to be culled because they are a danger to planes.
The law forbids the geese to be moved elsewhere and so just two options remain, she said, ‘destruction or consumption’. Noord-Holland estimates that around 2,500 geese will be caught around the airport.
