Monsanto takes over Dutch seed firm

Dutch seed producer De Ruiter is being taken over by the world's biggest seed firm Monsanto for €546m.
De Ruiter, based in Bergschenhoek just north of Rotterdam and founded in 1945, focuses on breeding and producing vegetable seeds, including tomato, cucumber, aubergine, bell pepper and melon. The takeover still has to be approved by various EU authorities.
