Wilders' film: stay alert, says prime minister

Friday 28 March 2008

Although initial reactions to the long-awaited anti-Koran film by right-wing Dutch MP Geert Wilders have been calm, prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende issued a warning on Friday afternoon that there was ‘reason to remain alert’.

Speaking immediately after the release of the film on Thursday evening, Balkenende said the cabinet regrets the showing of the short film whose only aim is ‘to upset people’s feelings’.

The EU however is more outspoken in its criticism, reports ANP news service. In a statement on Friday afternoon, Slovenia which is currently the EU president said the film’s only purpose is to ‘incite hatred’. The EU stands ‘fully’ behind the Dutch government, it adds.

Dutch legal exports have concluded that Fitna does not go as far as inciting hatred and as such is within legal boundaries.

This view is shared by Brahim Bourzik, spokesman for the national council of Moroccans who told news agency ANP that he is 'extremely relieved' after having seen the film. 'The worries that I and Dutch society had about riots and the like have been reduced considerably,' Bourzik said.

However, Muslims at seven mosques in the southern city of Eindhoven are preparing to lodge a collective complaint against Wilders on the grounds that he is encouraging hatred. ‘Freedom of expression is a right... but it is not an excuse to upset fellow human beings,’ they said in a statement.

Earlier Iran condemned Fitna as ‘horrible’ and ‘blasphemous’. A spokesman from the Irani foreign affairs department warned repercussions could follow but did not give details.

Pakistan called on the Dutch government to take legal steps against Wilders.

But most of the Arab media have responded mildly to the film reporting that the Dutch government does not share Wilders’ negative view of Islam.

And a spokesman for the Dutch troops in Afghanistan told BNR radio that there have not been any reactions to the film in the region although security would be stepped up.

I am muslim and I think the only reason why there were not a problems from muslims because Wilders was right about what was published in the film as the verse which call for killing and the most terrorist have and are using the same verses to kill innocent.

Peoples in Netherland have to understand that not the Quran who is problem but the others books which explain the Quran and called in arabic "tefssir" (explications). This books who are explaining to the young peoples the meanning of Quran and they give them more "fetwas" to kill peoples. The arab world have aslo to admit this because they use the same ways to kill in arab countries also using the verses of Quran (iraq, afghanistan , algeria ,somalia ect...)

Concerning the Christianity, we know that there is Bible and one Bible . Many such "tefssir" books are in Europe Today , in Libraries and elsewhere and no one pay attention to it. For example search for the books of "Ibn Taymiya" and others and you can see that the responsibles of pushing youngs muslims to be extremists are this so called "Choyoukhs" who give Fetwas.

That is why the Film of Wilders has nothing to do with Muslims and he was right when he said that he has no problems against Muslims.

So that is why Iam muslim and I support his film. The Muslims in netheraldn have to answer what is the meaning of the verse read in the film .

"People in Netherland have to understand that [it is] not the Quran [that] is problem but the others books which explain the Quran ... called in Arabic [tafsir] (explications).

The points above won't work with any Muslim who believes in Islam. The Qur'an is only a part of the Sunna, the other two essential parts being the Sira and the Ahadith, which the well-intentioned commentator above doesn't admit here.

One cannot dismiss the commentaries and the life of Mohammed as irrelevant to Islam. They are also, with the Qur'an, the basis of sharia, the heart and soul, as it were, of Islam. The Qur'an is immutable, not one word to be changed; and the gates of interpretation are closed, according to Islamic orthodoxy, or orthopraxy; and bin Laden and his followers, following ibn Tamiyya and others, are maximally orthodox Muslims.

There is no convenient tossing out the tafsir of the Sunna, not for Sunnis, not for Shi'a, not for any legitimate Muslim. Nor is interpretation allowed by any legitimate Muslim as ijtihad is rida, innovation, a thing not allowed since the 8th century. It is not allowed for Muslims to interpret or change classical Islam.

To claim anything else is taqiyya, convenient lying in defence of the religion, taqiyya sanctioned by Mohammed himself in the Qur'an.

Those who want children to have a peaceful place to grow up must honestly confront the honest situation Muslims present to the world, and that is unrelenting jihad, war against the kuffar, they being us, till we either are murdered, converted to Islam, or reduced to dhimmitude and forced to pay jizya. Not a happy prospect for us, not a healthy vision of life for Muslims caught in the grip of a primitive poligion. But worse is to ignore rality for the sake of being thought of as "nice."

The word 'tafsir' comes from 'fassara', which means, 'to explain, to expound, to elucidate, to interpret.' The word tafsir is the verbal noun of 'fassara', and means 'the explanation or interpretation of something.'

According to another opinion,[1] the word tafsir is a transposition from s-f-r, which means, 'to expose, to uncover.' Thus, a woman who uncovers her face is called a 'saafirah', and the act of uncovering her face is called 'sufur.' Therefore, according to this definition, 'tafsir would mean uncovering the meanings and exposing the secrets of the Qur'an. However, the stronger opinion is the first one, even though both of these meanings are correct.

In Islamic sciences, tafsir is defined to be:

The science by which the Qur'an is understood, its meanings explained, and its rulings derived.[2]

Wilders has choosen Quran for his film.I am not surprise! actually the growth rate of Islam is 1.85 and if Islam keeps growing by this rate,it is estimated that by 2025 Islam will surpass christianity and will become leading relegion of the World.I wanted to ask Wilder who is the one that droped A-bomb on humanity, who waged most wars against humanity? who was the invader in world wars?who was the one commited Holocast?Tell me Who,not the reader or follower of Quran!! you know it very well who did it.

Minnie
Thanks's for your comment.Just to let you know that Iam an arab and my brother "Police Officer" was kiled in Algeria because one "fetwa" given by "Djihadist Chouyoukhs" and he was a muslim of course. Every terrorist operation is followed by verses of Quran and in every country the same.I will say it clearly and without fair, it is the time the Muslims have to change themselves. New explanations of the Quran are needed urgently .To finish my comment, I have to tell you that there is verse in Quran who say "God will not change one Nation until they change themselves".Then they have to open new page with the West and take distance from all those books who are calling to fight the West and Jewis.

The Dutch Govenment and Dutch peoples have shown their strong support for Muslims in this crisis and the muslims have to do more also to protect a young muslims from being futur terrorists.

Let's see if they will do more.

you are right Minnie,we have to live in peace and to avoid any wars in our world.

We do not have to accuse what god says in the Koran as a result of our wars,
we have a lot of wars in this world such as the first world war and the second
world war,i do not believe that it caused because of the Koran.

God ask us in the Koran not to harm any disbelievers as mentioned below

The Disbelievers

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.

[109.1] Say: O unbelievers!

[109.2] I do not serve that which you serve,

[109.3] Nor do you serve Him Whom I serve:

[109.4] Nor am I going to serve that which you serve,

[109.5] Nor are you going to serve Him Whom I serve:

[109.6] You shall have your religion and I shall have my religion.

to fathi Zahdeh

It is already contradiction in your message of peace . Why always we should call them unbelievers. You start your message of peace by this word "Unbeleivers" and I know what is the real meaning of this word in arabic "Kafiroun".
This is a contradiction because others mations also beleive in God .I see that you are trying to use the verse from Quran in positive way but starting to call peoples "Unbelievers" is already a grave insult to peoples. no ?

@ Fathi Z.
thanks! I'm glad that you are for world peace!

To AT

Thank you for your comments.

there is no insult, the verse is clear and god give us the freedom to
think and believe that he is the superpower or to deny this fact.

Yes, it is up to people whether to believe that there is one god or not

God is not talking to nations, but talking to individuals,to everyone.

So,if i will not believe in god, that will not be an insult.

the verse ,give us the freedom to choice our religion.

Please clarify ,where is the insult when god give us the choice to believe
on him or not,thanks
