Incapacity benefit claimants want to work

Some 57% of people considered partially unfit for work and 19% of those who have been totally ruled out of the labour market for health reasons would like a job, according to research for the RWI council for work and income.

Invalidity benefit claimants primarily see a job as a way of boosting social contacts and doing something useful, the RWI research showed.

Volunteering has made me feel (and be) part of society, but could there be some incentive to long-term jobless/disabled like recognition/reward for such work or just less badgering by the DWP?!!!

In the UK I was not allowed to do any voluntary work by DWP. Before I moved to Holland, to get medical care denied to me in the UK, they said I would be entitled to benefits until I die, or next review in 2011, which ever is 1st, but never said I couldn't do voluntary work.
As soon as I started doing voluntary work in Holland, due to better medical care, and I needed to be doing something to keep sane, and make contact with other humans, well, blow me down, the DWP found out and stopped all my benefits. So here I am seriously injured, ill, and disabled with no Income, and In Holland ...
