Wednesday 16 January 2008
Dutch internet bookshop bol.com booked a 60% increase in turnover in 2007, the online company said on Wednesday.
Sales totalled €171m, compared with €107m in 2006. The company did not publish profit figures. Bol.com's biggest seller was the seventh book in the Harry Potter series.
Company director Daniel Ropers told news agency ANP that the introduction of second-hand books was also proving a success. Some 300,000 used books changed hands last year, triple initial forecasts, Roper said.
The company hired 70 new employees last year, taking its total workforce to 170. Another 60 new jobs are planned in 2008.
