Wednesday 02 January 2008
The number of attacks on shops and other businesses in the Amsterdam area rose by 33% to almost 400 incidents in 2007 said Bernard Welten, chief of the regional police force, during his traditional New Year’s speech.
Welten said the increase is a ‘shocking development’ reports aNP news service on Wednesday.
Two people died following attacks on late-night shops last year, one in Amstelveen and one in Amsterdam North.
