Verdonk open for coalition with Wilders
Monday 24 December 2007
Controversial right-wing MP Rita Verdonk would be prepared to join forces with the anti-immigration PVV party led by Geert Wilders in a coalition government, says Verdonk in today’s Telegraaf.
Verdonk forms a one-person faction in parliament with her movement Trots op Nederland (Proud of the Netherlands) after being thrown out of the liberal VVD party in September.
Both Verdonk and Wilders have strong populist followings but are kept at arm’s length in political circles.
