Garmin withdraws bid for Tele Atlas

US satellite navigation system maker Garmin has withdrawn its bid for Dutch digital map maker Tele Atlas. Garmin and its Dutch rival TomTom have been embroiled in a takeover battle for Tele Atlas.

Yesterday Garmin and Tomtom said they have reached an out of court deal on all their outstanding patent disputes. No details of the deals, which cover the US, UK and the Netherlands, were published.
