PM welcomes football World Cup plan

Prime minister Jan Peter Balkenende and sports minister Jet Bussemaker are 'very enthusiastic' about plans to organise the 2018 football World Cup in the Netherlands and Belgium.

A successful bid to stage the tournament would be good for sport, society and the economy, Balkenende said.
