Nutreco buys Canadian animal feed firm

Nutreco is to take over the animal feed activities of Canadian group Maple Leaf Foods for some €330m. The unit is Canadian market leader with a share of some 20% and turned over €430m last year.
Nutreco hopes to complete the deal in the third-quarter of this year.
The company has long had the ambition to expand in Northern America. Operational director Juergen Steinemann said the takeover provided a 'solid platform for further steps' in the region.
