Economic growth below EU average

The Dutch economy grew by 2.5% in the first quarter of this year compared with the same period in 2006 according to national statistics office CBS. Compared with the fourth quarter of 2006, the growth is 0.6%.


Figures from Eurostat, also announced on Tuesday, show that the EU economy grew by 3.2% in the first quarter compared with the same period in 2006, meaning Dutch growth is below that of Europe as a whole. Compared with the previous quarter, the European economy also grew 0.6%.
