New calls for anonymous job applications
Wednesday 17 January 2007
The chairman of a government task force aimed at reducing youth unemployment has called on firms to introduce anonymous job applications. Hans de Boer said this would boost the chances of youngsters with an ethnic minority background getting interviews.
‘What I don’t understand is that employers don’t just give it a go,’ De Boer said at a conference in The Hague on Tuesday evening. ‘Do it voluntarily. If it doesn’t help then nothing has been lost.’
Last year, the chairman of the government’s advisory council SER also called for anonymous job applications.
