Lottery winners celebrate millionaire wins

An unidentified person in the northern province of Groningen won over €20m in the annual New Year state lottery. The second prize of €12.2m went to a household in the province of Zuid-Holland. Four other people won €1m, the state lottery organisation said yesterday.

Meanwhile four families from the Brabant village of Liempde will share the €13.9m New Year postcode lottery prize.The Bekkers family won €514,814 after the man of the house sneakily bought a ticket without telling anyone. Five families with the winning postcode did not take part in the lottery.

Some 740 other families in the village will share the €10m prize, if they bought tickets.
