Traffic jams up 6% in 2006, A27 worst hit

Traffic jams on the A27 motorway between Utrecht and Gorinchem were the worst in the country in 2006, according to the motoring organisation ANWB which published its annual congestion figures today.
The ANWB reported that congestion (length times duration of traffic jams) rose 6% last year in comparison with 2005. Traffic jams were the worst on Monday mornings and Thursday evenings last year with 226 and 217 kms respectively.
The worst day on the roads in 2006 was the morning rush hour on March 6 with 660 kms.
