AEX reaches highest point of the year

Five years after the collapse of Lehman Brothers triggered the financial crisis, Amsterdam stock exchange’s AEX index has reached a five-year high of 380.85 points.

The peak, during Monday morning trading, shows the blue chip index is almost back to its pre-Lehman level. The AEX closed at 399.57 points on the last day of trading before Lehman Brothers collapsed.

The AEX has risen almost 11% in 2013.
