Albert Heijn has high hopes of Belgian operation

Supermarket group Albert Heijn hopes to eventually open 200 stores in Belgium, the manager of the group’s Belgian operations told Flemish newspaper De Standaard.

The chain, part of the Ahold food sales empire, will open its first Belgian store next month.
‘We are going for substantial growth and will take every chance we can, whether through franchising or under own management,’ Corné Mulders was quoted as saying.
