Ruud van Nistelrooij is back in the selection for the Dutch national football team after an absence of over a year following disagreements with coach Marco van Basten.

Van Basten has included midfielder Van Nistelrooij in his provisional list of 33 players for the match against Switzerland in Geneva on August 22.
Nistelrooij’s last game – his 54th with the Dutch team – was on June 21 last year in the world championships against Argentine. Unhappy with his performance, Van Basten took Van Nistelrooij off the pitch and replaced him with Ryan Babel.
