Growing unrest over cabinet formation process

There is growing political unrest over negotiations to put together a new coalition government. Christian Democrat prime minister Jan Pieter Balkenende said yesterday that he wants a coalition with Labour (PvdA) and ‘a third party’.

On Wednesday Andre Rouvoet leader of the orthodox ChristenUnie called on the CDA and Labour to name publically which party they want to work with. It is a public secret that Balkenende has a preference for the ChristenUnie while the PvdA would rather work with GreenLeft. The CDA is the biggest party in the new parliament.
