Feyenoord suspends player for eating a croquette during cup match half time

The classic croquette

Rotterdam football club Feyenoord has suspended a player for one match and two training sessions after he was caught on camera eating a white bread roll and croquette during half-time in this week’s cup match against Heracles Almelo.

Michiel Kramer is out of the squad for this weekend’s game against Roda JC and will also have to pay a fine, Feyenoord said.

‘Michiel acted unprofessionally and in an unacceptable manner,’ technical director Martin van Geel says on the club website. ‘This behaviour does not fit with in Feyenoord’s approach to top sport and does not set an example to others.’

Kramer, 29 was on the bench for the full 90 minutes during the match, which Feyenoord won 3-1. He has three times played in the starting line-up for Feyenoord this season and scored twice.
