Relatives of the people killed in the MH17 plane disaster are to be allowed to view the last photographs taken of their loved ones taken as they made their way through Schiphol airport.

The public prosecution department had earlier refused to allow relatives to view the security camera pictures, citing privacy concerns.

Relative Hans de Borst, who has campaigned for access to the pictures, said officials also claimed it would be an impossible task to comb all the footage for photographs of the 298 people who died. In total there are 34 cameras in the Schiphol departure hall and lounge.

Relatives say that viewing the photographs will help their grieving process, because they are the last pictures taken off their loved ones.

No date has yet been set for the viewings, which will take place on a family by family basis.

The Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 (MH17) from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur was shot down on July 17th 2014, killing all 298 people aboard, two-thirds of them Dutch.
