A dance party in Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw concert hall was halted two hours early because parts of the ceiling were threatening to come down, the Telegraaf said on Friday.

The electronic dance music event should have finished at 3am but was stopped at 1am. The organisers feared the main concert hall had become unsafe when a piece of plasterwork fell to the ground.

Lamps, lasers, disco globes and other equipment had been hung from the ceiling as part of the show. Around 1,000 visitors were at the event, hosted by DJs Dixon and Job Jobse, and advertised as a ‘seven hour back to back set’.

No-one was injured and the regular season of concerts will continue, a spokesman told the paper.

The Concertgebouw, which usually hosts classical music concerts, is famous for its excellent acoustics. Party organisers Audio Obscura are known for hosting events at unusual locations, the Telegraaf said.
