Canadian financial services group Maple is to offer mortgages in the Netherlands via CMIS, which owns the Hypotheekshop and Huis & Hypotheek housing advice chains, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.

The company is aiming for a ‘substantial’ share of the Dutch market and will focus on mortgages which fall under the national guarantee scheme. CMIS spokesman Cor Zwaan said the Canadian product is primarily aimed at first-time buyers.

Mortgage suppliers like Hypotheekshop have been hit by the introduction of the ban on commission-based selling. Exclusive sales deals with companies such as Maple are one option to boost sales, the FD says.
