Canadian financial group Maple to offer mortgages in Holland

house for saleCanadian financial services group Maple is to offer mortgages in the Netherlands via CMIS, which owns the Hypotheekshop and Huis & Hypotheek housing advice chains, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Monday.

The company is aiming for a ‘substantial’ share of the Dutch market and will focus on mortgages which fall under the national guarantee scheme. CMIS spokesman Cor Zwaan said the Canadian product is primarily aimed at first-time buyers.

Mortgage suppliers like Hypotheekshop have been hit by the introduction of the ban on commission-based selling. Exclusive sales deals with companies such as Maple are one option to boost sales, the FD says.
