Bin men strike in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Groningen

Rubbish collectors in Amsterdam, Utrecht and Groningen are going on a three-day strike from Monday morning.

Waste will not be collected, rubbish bins will not be emptied and there will be no street cleaning.

The strike is in support of a better pay deal. The unions want a 2.5% rise over last year and 3% in 2014. Talks on a new pay deal have been ongoing for over a year.

Rubbish collectors will stage a national day of action in Hendrik Ido Ambacht on Wednesday to coincide with the local authority association’s annual congress.
