Van Gaal names World Cup squad, Feyenoord dominate with five

Dutch coach Louis van Gaal has named his 23-strong squad for next month’s World Cup in Brazil.

Six names have been dropped from the initial selection of 30 players after Rafael van der Vaart pulled out with a calf injury.

Wesley Sneijder and Arjen Robben are taking part in their sixth international championship. Both were part of the 2004 Dutch squad at the European championship in Portugal.

Oranje will play a friendly against Ghana in the Kuip stadium in Rotterdam on Saturday evening at 20.30.

Keepers: Jasper Cillessen (Ajax), Tim Krul (Newcastle United), Michel Vorm (Swansea City).

Defence: Daley Blind (Ajax), Daryl Janmaat (Feyenoord), Terence Kongolo (Feyenoord), Bruno Martins Indi (Feyenoord), Joël Veltman (Ajax), Paul Verhaegh (FC Augsburg), Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa), Stefan De Vrij (Feyenoord).

Midfield: Jordy Clasie (Feyenoord), Leroy Fer (Norwich City), Jonathan De Guzman (Swansea City), Nigel de Jong (AC Milan), Wesley Sneijder (Galatasaray), Georginio Wijnaldum (PSV).

Attack: Memphis Depay (PSV), Klaas-Jan Huntelaar (Schalke 04), Dirk Kuijt (Fenerbahçe), Jeremain Lens (Dinamo Kiev), Robin van Persie (Manchester United), Arjen Robben (Bayern Munich).
