Well-educated Dutch women most likely to use alternative medicine

Almost one million Dutch people use alternative medicine and acupuncture is the most popular therapy, the national statistics office said on Monday.

Well-educated women and people with top-up insurance policies are most likely to use alternative practitioners, the CBS said. Homeopathy and chiropractors are second and third to acupuncture.

Most patients have a long-term complaint and are also being treated by traditional specialists.
