Pay rose an average 1.6% last year

The average pay rise in all the collective wage deals agreed in 2012 was 1.6%, according to employers’ advisory group AWVN.

This is less than the rate of inflation last year and slightly down on the 1.7% CAO average rise agreed in 2011.
The rise in chemical sector pay was strongest at 2.1% while civil service pay rose just 0.1% – showing government efforts to freeze public sector pay are working.
