A 25-year-old local man was arrested in Winschoten at the weekend, suspected of starting a series of fires in empty buildings in the town.

Danny F is under suspicion because he called the emergency services a number of times over the past few weeks to report a fire. He also tweeted regularly about the fires, including a photo of his ‘latest buy’, a Zippo lighter.
At least 18 cases of arson have been reported in Winschoten over the past few months.
