TNT Express chairwoman resigns

TNT Express chairwoman Marie-Christine Lombard is leaving the company at the end of September, the express delivery group said on Monday.

Lombard has resigned ‘to pursue an external career opportunity’, the statement said. Current chief financial officer Bernard Bot will take over as interim.
The development has ‘no bearing on the intended merger with UPS, which we expect to complete in early 2013,’ supervisory board chairman Antony Burgmans said.
On Friday, the Wall Street Journal reported the European Commission has its doubts about the takeover of TNT Express by UPS because of competition concerns.
