Police made two major drugs seizures this week with the discovery of a large cache of ingredients for the party drug ecstasy in Drenthe and 100 kilos of cocaine in a shipment of oranges in Rotterdam.

The 20,000 litres of chemicals to make ecstasy were found on Tuesday night by police at a cleaning company in the Drenthe town of Roden. It had been shipped into the country through Rotterdam port, reports BNR radio.

A nearby shed was found to contain a further 200 litres of ingredients and the packaging for sending it on to Brazil, Thailand, Turkey, Norway and Switzerland.

The owner of the cleaning company has been arrested together with two other men.

The drugs were hidden in a shipment of oranges from South America. The street value of the cocaine is around €4.5m.
