Police officer who kicked drunk gets flowers from council

Rotterdam city council has agreed to send flowers to the police officer at the centre of a row over police violence when she was filmed kicking a drunken man.

The woman, and the male officer who watched the incident, were exonerated from blame in an official report by the public prosecution department this week. The report said the two had acted according to police protocol and had not used unnecessary force to subdue the man, who had acted aggressively before filming started.
Rotterdam mayor Ahmed Aboutaleb said during a city council debate on the incident that the officer, who has been home sick since the film was put online, can now resume her duties.
