The national police force due to be in place by 2015 will have 10 regional units, 43 district units and 168 basic teams, justice minister Ivo Opstelten says in a concept plan released on Monday evening.

The basic teams will form the backbone of the new service. Each team will have between 60 and 200 full-time jobs and will cover a neighbourhood in a big city, a council area or several smaller councils, according to press reports.
In addition, each district unit will have a flexi-team of 20 agents it can call on if the basic team is short of manpower.
The Hague
The regional unit The Hague will be the largest, with seven district and 20 basic teams. The smallest will be the Oost-Brabant region of Brabant province, with three district and nine basic teams.
The police unions are currently studying the plan and will give their reaction at the end of August.
The government is preparing to merge the 25 regional forces into a single national police force, with the justice minister setting the national police force budget.
