Dutch football dream is fading after second loss

The Dutch dream of winning the Euro 2012 football championship faded further on Wednesday evening with a 1-2 loss against Germany.

Although the Germans dominated play, the Dutch had several chances in the first half to score. But it was German player Mario Gomez who put two goals into the back of the net.
It was not until the second half that Robin van Persie managed to beat the German defence to make the final score 2-1.
The Dutch are now bottom of Group B with no points and just one goal from two matches.
The Germans head the group with 6 points and Portugal, which beat Denmark 3-2 on Wednesday, are second on goal difference.
The Dutch do still have a chance of progressing to the next round of Euro 2012, if they beat Portugal in the final match in the group stage with a difference of at least two goals.
That match takes place on Sunday evening.
