Police unions will meet on Monday to discuss reviving their claim for a 3% pay rise, news agency ANP reports.

The unions had tempered the claim under pressure from employers in return for improvements in working hours and other secondary benefits.
However, news that local council civil servants have agreed a 2% deal over two years – despite the government’s commitment to a pay freeze – has angered union chiefs.
‘We cannot accept police officers’ pay being frozen while others get a pay rise,’ a spokesman for the ACP union said. ‘The pressure from our members is mounting. They have had enough.’
