Dutchman shot by Israeli police after killing spree threat

A Dutch national has been shot by Israeli police after threatening to ‘go down to the street’ and ‘slaughter people’, according to Israeli media.


The man had been staying with a couple in Bat Yam, south of Tel Aviv. for about a year and threatened ‘to kill anyone I come across’, the couple reportedly told website Ynet.

Two police officers arrived at the scene and spotted the suspect fleeing inside the building. In the ensuing pursuit they fired both tear gas and live rounds at him. One of the shots injured him, Ynet said. Some reports say the man was critically injured.
The man’s identity is not yet known but he is thought to be around 30 years old, according to Dutch media coverage.
