Popular tv show fined for ‘advertising’ coffee service

Tv chat show De wereld draait door is being fined €50,000 for allowing a guest to advertise a coffee service.

The service was on a tray with a black cloth over it and was revealed by its designer, the tv presenter Yvon Jasper, who fronts the Dutch version of the programme in which farmers look for a wife.
The media commission says the programme went too far in naming the service and allowing Jaspers and presenter Matthijs van Nieuwkerk to hold a conversation about the product, including an indication of its price.
The show in question was broadcast in November 2010 and an original fine of €100,000 was demanded. The programme appealed and must now pay half that amount.
