Police unions have agreed to reducing policing levels to a minimum at two first division football matches this weekend, as part of their campaign for a better pay and conditions agreement.

The unions have decided to call meetings to coincide with the Go Ahead Eagles – FC Den Bosch match on Friday and Cambuur Leeuwarden – FC Zwolle game on Sunday.
This means it will be up to the local mayors to decide if the matches can go ahead without proper police cover, news agency ANP said.
The unions are calling for a 3% pay rise and agreements on early retirement. Justice minister Ivo Opstelten has imposed a pay freeze.
A police union spokesman told Nos television other large events may also be affected. ‘We are not just looking at football. We can also tell our members about Opstelten’s disastrous plans at other special events which require a large police presence,’ the spokesman said.
