Moving to a collective energy contract, such as through motoring lobby group ANWB, cuts household bills for gas and electricity but also benefits the organisation, Trouw reports on Thursday.

The ANWB is one of several organisations which offer members cheaper energy if they sign up for a collective contract. In addition, every person who signs on for the ANWB energy contract benefits the motoring group by €70, the paper says.
People who join the energy scheme operated by home owners’ lobby group VEH boost the organisation’s coffers by €40. Consumers’ association Consumentenbond benefits by €30, as does broadcaster Veronica.
Trouw says the Consumentenbond has earned some €1.75m through its two collective energy campaigns. The organisation is the only one to publish this information on its website.

The home owners’ group is currently setting up its sixth collective energy policy, having earned some €4m from the previous five.
A spokesman for the ANWB, which is running its first campaign for members, says it is a win-win-win strategy.
‘The environment wins because we offer green power, consumers win because they get cheaper electricity and we win,’ he said. ‘But we do have to share the income with the company that organises the electricity auction, and we have a lot of costs.
