Police unions send minister an ultimatum over pay

Police unions are threatening to take industrial action unless justice minister Ivo Opstelten finds a way of meeting their pay demands, the Telegraaf reports on Tuesday.

The unions want the minister to come up with an offer good enough to kick-start the pay talks by Friday at 1800. The negotiations were halted three months ago.
A spokesman for the minister said he is prepared to issue job guarantees for all serving officers but said a 3% pay rise and a structural increase in the pay scales would be ‘unrealistic in the present economic climate’.
