More cases of burn-out, but absenteeism falls

The number of people taking time off work suffering from a burn-out rose 11% last year, but absenteeism was down 8% overall, according to research by health and safety company 365.

On average, someone with burn-out is off work for 189 days. Men aged 26 to 35 and women aged 46+ were most likely to suffer the stress-related illness.
‘Absenteeism always goes down in times of crisis, but burn-out is not affected,’ the company said in a statement. 365 bases its research on the experience at companies with a combined workforce of one million people.
