Feyenoord rioter jailed for nine months

A football hooligan who threw a steel bar at police during riots outside the Kuip stadium in Rotterdam in September was jailed for one year, three months suspended, by a city court on Tuesday.

The 36-year-old resident of Uddel was one of a group of Feyenoord supporters who attacked police after a protest march against club policy got out of hand.
A second man was jailed for nine months, three suspended. A third man was found not guilty because of lack of evidence. However, the public prosecution department said it would appeal against the not-guilty verdict because there is film evidence of his involvement.
Trouble broke out after a small group broke away from the main group and tried to storm the Feyenoord offices. At one point police drew their guns in an effort to keep the rioters at bay.
