Police unions call for a ban on Feyenoord home games

Police unions on Monday called for Rotterdam football club Feyenoord to be banned from playing home games following crowd trouble on Sunday which saw police officers drawing their guns.

Around 1,000 fans held a demonstration before Sunday’s match against De Graafschap, in protest at club policy.
According to the Telegraaf, a small group of around 50 then tried to storm the club offices which are attached to the stadium, smashing glass doors and lighting fireworks.
‘It was a short, violent and isolated incident,’ a visibly-shaken Feyenoord chief Eric Gudde said after the game.
‘I saw club workers crying on the stairs, and shocked supporters. I was walking round with a possible investor, who does not understand any of it. Real fans don’t understand it either.’
Feyenoord won the match 4-0.
Rotterdam mayor Achmed Aboutaleb said later banning home matches was not an option because only a few fans were involved in the trouble.
