Ajax chairman calls for stability within the board

The power battle at Amsterdam football club Ajax between former player Johan Cruijff and the supervisory board is damaging the interests of the club, chairman Steven ten Have says in Wednesday’s Parool.

The members’ council is meeting on Wednesday evening to discuss the conflict.
‘Ajax cannot permit itself to function like this any longer… Cruijff is a special man but he is just a member of the supervisory board,’ Ten Have told the paper.
Cruijff launched a ‘personal crusade’ to restore Ajax’ fortunes last year which culminated in the appointment of a new board. However, last month Nos television reported that Cruijff had frustrated efforts to appoint former player Marco van Basten as the club’s new technical director.
