Amsterdam taxis near bottom in European ranking

Amsterdam’s taxi service comes 19th out of 22 in a survey by German motoring association ADAC, reports news agency ANP.

Rotterdam’s taxis are in 10th place in the ranking, which is led by Barcelona.
The organisation sent ‘mystery guests’ to assess taxi services in terms of the quality of the driver, the taxi, the route and price. In Amsterdam, drivers ran red lights, fiddled the bill or even refused to carry passengers, the ANP report said.
Amsterdam city council has been struggling to get a grip on the taxi sector since it was liberalised in 2000.
