Trade union federation talks pension deal

The FNV trade union federation is meeting on Monday afternoon to decide whether or not it still supports the pension deal negotiated between union chiefs, employers and ministers.

Federation leader Agnes Jongerius is trying to persuade the members to back the deal which increases the retirement age to at least 66 and makes company pensions more dependent on stock exchange developments.
Its biggest member, the general workers union Bondgenoten, the civil service union Abvakabo and construction workers union Bouw FNV have all voted against accepting the deal. However, the Aob teaching union voted in favour.
