Fashion centre raids net €840,000 in cash

Police and tax official raids on a number of outlets in the World Fashion Centre in Amsterdam resulted in the seizure of €840,000 in cash, the public prosecution department said on Thursday.

Six people were arrested during Wednesday’s searches of 16 different premises and four remain in custody.
The checks involved 100 officials and focused on claims that illegal money trading and other financial transactions were taking place in the building.
The raids follow two separate attacks on the Bali Mode outlet in the centre. In one incident, shots were fired through the window and in the second, the building was damaged by a grenade.
