60% oppose dual nationality

Some 60% of the Dutch think people who take Dutch nationality should renounce their original one, the national statistics office CBS says.

Around 1.1 million of the 16.7 million population of the Netherlands have two nationalities.
Opponents of dual nationality tend to be low-skilled and aged over 45.
By contrast, 28% of non-western immigrants are opposed to dual nationality, the CBS said.
Some 70% of those polled said cabinet ministers should not have dual nationality while just 18% said this was acceptable.
