MPs will on Tuesday evening discuss the Netherlands’ planned participation in a police training mission to Afghanistan, following fears by some MPs that agreements are being broken.

A slim majority of MPs voted in favour of the mission, on condition it is civilian-based and that the training period is increased from six to eight weeks.
But it is now unclear if the training period is to be extended. Last week the government said Nato had agreed to experiment with a longer period next year.
The government needs the support of the left-wing greens GroenLinks and orthodox Christian party ChristenUnie to make sure the mission goes ahead.
